My name is Henry Stavast I am a red-seal certified Heavy Duty/Commercial transport mechanic, a father to three amazing children, a volunteer coach. In my spare time I enjoy reading about history, working with my hands repairing or restoring many different things, from small radio controlled devices, all the way up to old heavy equipment and tractors. if it has history, or any kind of learning involved I am always interested.
I have always wanted to learn and pass on information, to show, and for as long as I can remember I have enjoyed teaching to my children or anyone that just needs a hand. As a tradesman I used to thrive at the chance to guide apprentices through their required levels of learning, I especially found it fulfilling helping apprentices who struggled to see the relevance of what they were learning in school and showing them how it applied to the workplace.
I became self employed and worked with the government to help teach special needs individuals, the skills they would have otherwise never had the opportunity to learn. I cherished the challenge it brought to me to learn new ways to teach the same information, and was always excited when it became easy to see that the lessons were making sense and being applied.
I am a substitute instructor in the Motor Vehicle Trades department at Okanagan College, Kelowna BC, and I am taking the Provincial Instructors Diploma Program to become certified to instruct in the trades as well as to train employees for our family based business Stryke Force Janitorial.
